Grand Opening
Four years ago a tiny black kitten showed up on the front porch. I carried her inside to be met by my husband’s declaration, “No cat will ever live in this house; we are dog people”. There was no room for the little orphan at local rescues. We agreed that she would live outside with a special place set up for her on the large covered front porch. We named her Pippi after the infamous book character that delighted my children with her adventures. It turned out that our Pippi was quite the explorer! She was an accomplished hunter who brought her prizes to the front mat as gifts. She greeted me happily at the end of each day ready to be picked up for hugs and pets. We often sat on the front porch together. Time with Pippi was a gift that I treasured. Unfortunately, it came to an end far too quickly. At approximately 1-year-old, she was hit by a car. My little Pippi’s body could not be saved. However, her spirit lives on. Pippi’s Place is her legacy.
Each of us has a “Pippi”, so we are pleased to announce the opening of Pippi’s Place Pet Rescue. Our logo includes a cat and a dog happily cuddled together creating the shape of a heart. The tagline reads ”Where the light of love is always on”. Our light will shine on those that we know and will be a beacon to those in need. It is our hope that you will join us on our journey. Our rescue will initially focus on TNR efforts to support reduction of the feral cat population as well as providing exemplary care for kittens 4-months-old or younger until adoption. We hope to expand to include canine friends. We will move forward slowly and deliberately so that we are sure to have sufficient resources to meet the ongoing needs of our rescued animals.
Pippi’s Place is a tax-exempt public charity under the US Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). Beginning March 22, 2021, all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. We hope you will join our team. Every volunteer hour and fiscal donation is meaningful as your contributions of time and money allow us to continue our important rescue work. The cats thank you and so do we.
